SHAREit (Shareit Information Technology Co., Ltd.) is a global technology company mainly dedicated to mobile internet application development. As one of the fastest growing mobile internet companies in the world, SHAREit has over 200 employees and its business network has reached up to 200 countries and regions. SHAREit is a free application that lets users to transfer files among different platforms without consuming any data charges, as well as high speed of pan-entertainment content distribution. The CEO of the company is Michael Qiu. Users can use SHAREit to transfer files including photos, videos, music, contacts, apps and any other files. In addition to transferring files, SHAREit also offer its users wide range of digital entertainment from videos, music, films, GIF, meme, etc. Besides SHAREit app, it also owns various other utility app such as LOCKit, LISTENit, CLEANit, CLONEit. SHAREit has established its subsidiary corporation in India, where it holds offices in New Delhi and Bangalore.

The app offers transferring speed faster than Bluetooth and even NFC, and it is totally secure, considering the type of connection it uses to transfer files. Prior to SHAREit or similar applications, the only best method for file transfer was either through Bluetooth, or USB drives. In case of Bluetooth, the speed was not adequate, while the USB drive case had a negative side, which was the chances of getting malicious data or file transferred from one device to another, thus, hurting the foreign device or PC in connection. This was noted by various renowned universities and even magazines like WIRED. Looking at the unsafe protocol offered by USB drives, and slow speed of Bluetooth, applications like SHAREit were developed, based on Wi-Fi Direct methods.

Malicious or spyware app issue

In 2017, the Indian government has announced a list of apps on both Android and iOS that it says intelligence agencies have reported are spyware. The Indian security establishment asked troops to delete some 40 Chinese mobile apps, including SHAREit. Reacting to this reports, SHAREit said it does not compromise on users' security. "At SHAREit, we strictly adhere to high security standards and respect our users privacy. We do not compromise on user's security and their privacy is of utmost importance to us. We have a huge user base in India and we are committed to providing better products and service to our users with continuous technological developments," the company said in a statement.
